General Hospital Star Cameron Mathison and Wife Vanessa Break Up After 22 Years of Marriage

Soap opera star Cameron Mathison and wife Vanessa announced they are divorcing after over two decades together in emotional letter to fans.

Cameron Mathison and Vanessa Mathison are going their separate ways.The General Hospital star and his wife announced they are breaking up after over two decades together.

“After 22 years of marriage, we have made the difficult decision to part ways,” the former couple shared in a joint statement on Instagram July 31. “We enter this new chapter with deep love, kindness, and respect for each other. We hold gratitude in our hearts for the wonderful years we shared together.”

The exes—who are parents to son Lucas, 21, and daughter Leila, 18—added, “Our children have been and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will forever share in our devotion and love for them.

“And Cameron, 54, and Vanessa, 57, insist their breakup is anything but amicable.”We remain friends and both wish the best for one another,” they shared with fans. “We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition.”

The announcement comes several weeks after Cameron shared photos of a family vacation in Arizona on Instagram where Vanessa was noticeably absent.

Magical trip through AZ so far with my two loves,” the soap star, joined by their two kids, wrote on July 13. “This fall, Lucas is off to London for Foundation Program at Central St Martin fashion design And Leila is off to American University in Paris for psychology. Every moment is so precious.”

Cameron and Vanessa first met in 1998 in NYC and married three years later.And the TV personality was by the actor’s side during his battle with renal cancer several years ago.

“About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I’ve been having, and during that MRI they found a tumor on my right kidney. It’s consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma … or kidney cancer,” Cameron shared with fans on social media in 2019. “The good news is that it hasn’t spread to any other organs.”

“They say my healthy lifestyle and diet has no doubt helped keep it from growing and spreading to other areas, as doctors think it’s been growing in me for minimum 10 years,” he added. “I am extremely lucky that we found it early.”
