President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will maintain an unwavering stance against insecurity, declaring that the Federal Government will neither surrender to terrorists nor bow to bandits.
The President also emphasized that all persons currently held captive by criminal elements across the country remain a top priority for rescue operations.
The assurances were conveyed on behalf of the President by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, as part of activities marking the Democracy Day celebration.
Hardship Relief and Insecurity Battle
Delivering the President’s speech under the service theme “God of Hope, Actualise Our Dreams,” Akume noted that the administration is keenly aware of the socio-economic difficulties facing citizens. He stated that the President is committed to “doubling his efforts” to ensure economic relief reaches households through sustainable democratic dividends.
However, Tinubu made it clear that economic recovery goes hand-in-hand with safety, reiterating that his government would not compromise with unlawful actors threatening the nation’s peace.
A Reflection on Democracy
The service drew high-profile dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack.
Congratulating Nigerians on 27 uninterrupted years of democratic governance, Tinubu praised the resilience and sacrifices of citizens who fought for the restoration of democracy. He noted that the milestones of the June 12 struggle must serve as an inspiration to build a stronger, more united nation.
